Job
duties:
1. Take a detailed History
and perform a physical examination
of each new admission.
2. Document findings in
the medical record. To fill
up admission history and
Physical
assessment form of each new
admission.
3. Prescribe drugs and treatment.
4. Initiate discharge plan
on day 1 and review daily
with the intensives and the
consultant.
5. Review each patient at
least twice in each duty and
as requested by patient or
nursing staff.
6. Complete variance notes
daily and fill up investigations
chart.
7. Liaise with Consultant.
8. Counsel patients and relatives.
9. Complete consultation requests
for other medical specialties.
10. Carry out procedures within
capabilities eg CVC line insertion,
endotracheal
intubations.
11. Prepare discharge summary/transfer
summary.
12. Telephone Consultant on
discharge or death.
13. Complete death certificate
or refer to Coroner as per
Coroners advice.
14. Complete notifiable disease
forms and adverse drug reaction
reports.
15. Explain procedure to patient
and obtain written consent.
16. Participate in unit and
Hospital meetings, clinical
review, and pathology/radiology
meetings.
17. Attend training lectures.
18. Complete procedural details
and details regarding case
management.
19. Participate in peer review
and quality improvement activities/seminars.
20. Be easily contactable,
and able to return promptly
to hospital when on call.
21. Assist in providing cover
for unexpected absence.
22. Participate regularly
in performance management.
Candidate
Should be preferably an M.D
or MBBS with 3+ years of experience.
For Pediatrics, DCH will be
mandetory.

Technical Skill:
> Trained in PALS (Pediatric
Advanced Life Support)
> Trained in NALS (Neonatal
Advanced Life Support)
> Trained in Pediatric
Emergency.
> Trained in Neonatal Level-III
Care.
> Trained in Ward Level
Patient Care.
> Expert in all Ward Level
procedures & Intensive
Dept. Procedures.
> Expert in Resuscitation.
For ICU/ SICU:
> Should be well
verse with certain procedures
like endotracheal intubation,
central
line insertion- internal jugular,
subclavian; lumbar puncture,
arterial line insertion.
> Should be well verse
with ventillatory management
of the patient.
Technical Skill:

Should have undergone all
the mandatory training programmes
(BLS, ACLS,
ATLS)
